Items you should never feed your pet

As responsible dog owners, it’s vitally important that we are informed about which foods can be hazardous or even fatal for our furry pals. Although sharing human meals may seem tempting to them, certain items posed serious health threats if fed directly. We will highlight several shocking items you must never give to your canine friend in this blog post! Be informed and keep them safe!

Chocolate: Dogs cannot properly process theobromine found in chocolate products, causing vomiting, diarrhea, irregular heart rhythm, seizures or even seizures to take place. Keep all chocolate out of reach!
Grapes and Raisins: Although grapes and raisins appear harmless to pets, even small quantities can lead to kidney failure in dogs. Even small doses are toxic enough to produce symptoms including lethargy, vomiting and decreased appetite in your pup – beware! Keep these fruit away at all costs to protect their wellbeing!
Onions and Garlic: Onions and garlic contain compounds which contain compounds which damage red blood cells in dogs, leading to anemia, weakness and organ damage if consumed raw, cooked or powdered form. Any dishes prepared using onions and/or garlic as seasoning should therefore be avoided in order to safeguard the health of both yourself and your furry pal.
Xylitol: An artificial sweetener found in many sugar-free products like gum, candy and baked goods is known to cause sudden decreases in your dog’s blood sugar level resulting in seizures, liver failure or in extreme cases even death. Any product containing xylitol should be stored away safely to protect both yourself and your pup from its toxic effects.
Avocado: Avocado contains persin, which is toxic for dogs. While the flesh itself may not be toxic to dogs, ingesting its pit, skin and leaves could result in vomiting, diarrhea and difficulty breathing if your pup consumes too many avocados. Keep them out of reach to ensure he or she stays safe!
Alcohol: Dogs are highly vulnerable to alcohol intoxication. Even small doses may lead to vomiting, disorientation and decreased coordination as well as even potentially leading to coma or death. Therefore it should never be given deliberately and all alcoholic beverages must remain out of your pet’s reach.
Caffeine: Caffeine can be dangerous for dogs. It can lead to restlessness, rapid breathing, abnormal heart rhythms, tremors and seizures if consumed regularly by your pup. Be wary when giving caffeinated products like coffee and energy drinks as treats! Keep out of their reach at all costs.
Bones: While most canines enjoy chewing on bones, some types can be potentially hazardous for them. Cooked bones could splinter and lead to choking hazards as well as intestinal blockages or damage within their digestive systems if cooked too quickly; make sure you only give safe raw bones recommended by a veterinarian for consumption.
